Get InvolvedVisit BCTThe best way to get involved is to visit BCT in person and see our activities for yourself. Your personal presence and input are most welcome for any amount of time, though most agree that a stay of at least of a few days is warranted in order to connect with our staff and students and gain a better understanding of who we are and what we do. We have a long history of welcoming guests from all over India and all over the world, and are confident that you will find your stay most rewarding. We offer simple guest rooms for overnight visits. We are also happy to welcome volunteers, both from India and from abroad, who wish to share their time and expertise with us. Doctors, nurses and civil engineers continue to be in particularly high demand, though individuals from all fields are appreciated. Past volunteers have included teachers, architects, researchers and web designers. Most have found it best to first come, observe and absorb for several days. In this way projects and possibilities tend to find people instead of the other way around. To arrange a visit or volunteer experience please contact us through the information below. Donate to BCTAs a charitable organization, BCT relies largely on donations from benefactors to support its programs. When you donate funds to BCT, you can decide which program you will fund. BCT maintains rigorous accounting standards to ensure that all funds are utilized by the program of your choice. Listed below are some of the major initiatives for which funding is required: Sponsor a Student:Cost per student at Residential Model High School and the Skill Training Centre for the Disabled: Rs. 800 per student per month (including room and board). Sponsor Primary School Students:The current number of students covered during the 2005 - 2006 academic year is 7,500 and we are expecting the number to increase to 8,000 in 2006 - 2007. In the near future we hope to expand capacity up to 10,000 students with the support of well-wishers. Students are grouped into Centres with up to 50 students at each Centre depending on the size of population of the village. Tuition costs per student per year are Rs. 1000. Each Centre requires Rs. 50,000 per year in operating costs. In larger villages there may be as many as 5 to 6 Centres in operation. Corpus Fund Open DonationsIn order to ensure continuous operation of BCT programs, we are establishing a fund which will be used to support the permanent infrastructure of BCT, as well as the core staff (retaining skilled individuals in various disciplines). |
